Cloud Provider Regions for AI Workloads in India

Which major cloud providers publish an India region, as a starting point for checking a residency claim yourself — not a ranking of providers.

Direct answer

AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud each publish at least one India region in their own current documentation, alongside India-based providers that operate their own data centers. This page names publicly documented regions as a starting point for verification; it does not rank these providers or assert that any one of them fits a specific compliance requirement.

Publicly documented India regions, as a starting point

  • AWS publishes Asia Pacific (Mumbai) and Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) as separate India regions in its own region list.
  • Microsoft Azure publishes Central India, South India, and West India as separate regions in its own region list.
  • Google Cloud publishes asia-south1 (Mumbai) and asia-south2 (Delhi) as separate regions in its own region list.
  • Several India-headquartered providers operate their own data centers and market India-only hosting directly — verify their current claims on their own site rather than through a summary here.

A region existing isn't the same as your workload using it

An AI agent vendor can run on a provider that has an India region while still deploying that specific product outside it — the region list above tells you what's possible for a provider, not what a given vendor has actually chosen. See data residency for AI agents in India for how to get a vendor to confirm their own configuration.
